How to Disable or Turn off Windows Defender in Windows 7

Windows Defender is a free anti-spyware program that provides real-time protection against spyware and other unwanted software. This program is installed by default on Windows 7 computers and is enabled. This ensures your computer is constantly monitored against threats as you surf the internet.
However, if you’d rather use your own spyware protection, having Windows Defender also running at the same time is redundant. In this article I will show you how to disable or turn off the Windows Defender in your Windows 7 computer.
  1. Navigate to Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Defender
  2. At the screen, select ‘Tools’.
